May 15 was National Peace Officers Memorial Day. In our support of Law Enforcement, today Rick gets to talk with Stan Jerlecky from C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors). An organization that supports people left behind when a Law Enforcement Officer was killed in the line of duty.
C.O.P.S. was organized in 1984 with 110 individual members. Today C.O.P.S. membership is over 37,000 families. Members include spouses, children, parents, siblings, significant others, and affected co-workers of officers killed in the line of duty according to Federal government criteria. C.O.P.S. has over 50 Chapters nationwide that work with survivors at the grass-roots level.
Newly organized Las Vegas chapter of C.O.P.S. is having an event along with the Las Vegas 51’s, our minor league baseball team (NY Mets farm club) on Thursday – May 26 that also happens to be $1 Beer Night! Silent auction, drawings and information.
