NASCAR Coming to Las Vegas

Jimmie Johnson No. 48 Lowe's / KOBALT Tools won the Shelby American in Las Vegas 2010

NASCAR Weekend in Las Vegas is just around the corner and we couldn’t be more excited. The Kobalt 400 is  March 3-6, 2011 and that means Las Vegas will be invaded by about 200,000 of NASCARS most rabid fans who come to party.

Friday Qualifying
Friday is set up day.  This is the day for the true, die-hard NASCAR fan.  Not much racing as it is a day for the teams to try out the track and fine tune the car.  As well as qualifing happens on this day.

This is a day where the fan’s get to see NASCAR in it’s raw, nitty gritty details.  Where they see how they fine tune, test and run the cars.  It’s also the day that the weekenders (those with a weekend pass or RV in the camp grounds) get settled in and walk the grounds.  Everyone tries to figure out where everhtyhing is.

Saturday is Sam’s Town 300
This is perennial fan favorite of the Nationwide series.  Today we see more of the stars of NASCAR as well as the up and coming boys of the track.  It’s aslo a day we start to see some of the Air Forces best doing aerial manuevers and showing off to the crowds below.  Nellis Airforce Base is right next door.

Sunday is the Day
This is what many people have come to see and be seen at.  The Kobalt 400.  By now the energy and excitement level is at a fever pitrch and thick as can be.  the air is full of the smell of burned rubber and fuel mixed with beer and brats.  The NASCAR faithful are ready to see the best in the business play it out in the desert.

Vegas is the Place
Don’t think that all the action is at the track.  NASCAR attracts about 200,000 fans to Las Vegas.  That doesn’t include all the locals who go to the race!  And not all the fans are at the track.

Vegas parties.  Just like any other major sporting event, Vegas is party central.  Most of the casinos and resorts get in on the action.  Just as many fans fill the resorts and the Fremont Street Experience to watch the race, as there are at the race itself.  Big screens, jumbo-trons and parties fill the tourist corridor all three days.

Plus each night after the races there are more parties and events on the Strip and downtown to keep the party going.  We know how to do NASCAR!!
